2008 - May 18th - Sunday

Kathy and Ralph set out to Gatwick Airport from which they are flying to Cyprus having stayed in bed-and-breakfast for one night.  Kathy and JH had exchanged phone calls – in particular – Kathy confirmed that National Transplant Week commenced on 7th July.

2008 - May 27th - Tuesday

JH attended for an appointment with Amanda Hancock, the Phlebotomist, at the GP Surgery.  JH’s B/P was 130/80 – Cheers!  Amanda also did her usual blood sucking: JH asked her if JH’s calcium level, ie, bone ‘work-up’, could be done, as JH was aware that Zanidip does affect the usage of calcium in the body, and now she was taking an increased dose (and of course she had only one kidney to keep functioning on).  Amanda was quite happy to add a request for a bone work-up, as she knew that Dr Hateley was ‘not the sort’ to be put out at a mere Phlebotomist using her own initiative!  JH made an appointment - as had been suggested by Linda with regards to describing her aches and pains to Dr Hateley – and to receive the results of her blood work.

2008 - May 28th - Wednesday

JH was somewhat alarmed to receive a phone call from the Receptionist at the GP Surgery to ask JH to attend within a week to a fortnight for repeat of her blood work.  JH thanked the Receptionist for her patience, as JH told her that JH already had a appointment arranged with her GP but, of course, JH should have remembered that the days of GPs doing their own blood-sucking were long gone!  When JH stopped to think, she also observed that the days – when you awaited results being sent from the Path Lab to the GP by surface mail - had also gone, these results are now received by the GP electronically the day afterwards!
